“When making faces and skulls I thought a lot about what humans are— how we’re all the same, but so different. God must have the same dark humors we have, the same love we have, possibly the same fears in a way. Maybe even the same fear of how we handle our fears. I want people to think about what we are and even though we’re all so different, we’re all essentially alike.” – Jonathan Edelhuber

Candleholders
Jonathan Edelhuber’s contemporary update of the classical memento mori flips the script completely. Surrounded by morbid statistics, social upheaval and doom scrolling, the artist’s iterations of a single, laughing skull approbate and celebrate “what it is to be human. To be alive.”
This tealight candleholder is 3D printed in polycarbonate and based on a hand-carved foam design by the artist.
Dims: 3 × 2.5 × 2.5 inches
Material: Polycarbonate.
